Wakefield Seniors Use Six-Run Inning To Start Off Back-To-Back Road Nights

CREIGHTON – As Wakefield prepares to host a Senior Legion Area Tourney in late July, Post 81 added a few games to their schedule.

Sunday afternoon, the team visited Creighton.

Creighton jumped ahead early with a three-run first inning before Wakefield used a six-run second inning to take over. Wakefield outscored Creighton in the fourth, 2-1 while Creighton added one more run in the sixth but fell 8-5. Wakefield Post 81 improves to 10-14 on the season.

Julio Sanchez doubled and drove in a run as Noah Lamprecht singled twice and drove in three runs for Wakefield. Ben Klein added a pair of singles and a RBI; Brock Floyd and Joe Janssen both singled as Nolan Belt and Gabe Peitz accounted for a RBI each.

Belt picked up the win in four innings allowing four runs (three earned) off of six hits while striking out five batters and walking one. Lamprecht worked three innings allowing an earned run off of one hit while striking out two batters and walking one.

The Wakefield Post 81 Seniors will next visit Hartington this evening at 7 p.m. Wakefield will also visit Crofton this Friday at 7 p.m. before the C2 Senior Area Tourney bracket will be released this weekend or early next week.
