Wakefield, Quad County Northeast Wrestlers Advance To District Final

VALPARAISO – Area wrestling programs of Wakefield and Quad County Northeast (LCC/Randolph) competed in the C2-B Subdistrict Friday.

From Raymond Central Public School in Valparaiso, Raymond Central welcomed seven other teams in subdistrict competition. The top four wrestlers from each weight class will qualify for an eight-man bracket for a district final next week.

Yutan won the Subdistrict with 194 points, followed by Raymond Central in runner-up with 177.5, Syracuse placed third with 122 points, Conestoga took fourth with 102.5 points and Quad County Northeast rounded out the top five teams with 78.

Other team scoring came from Archbishop Bergan (sixth – 59), Wakefield (seventh – 41) and Sutton (eighth – 38).

Wakefield district final qualifiers included Samuel Chase (106) placed runner-up, Giovani Salcedo (220) took third as Jeremiah Chase (138) and Mitchell Fischer (160) both finished fourth

Quad County Northeast had a pair of runner-up finishes from Tie Hollandsworth (152) and Kolby Casey (195), Asher Beed (106) and Colby Wathor (182) both finished third while Nolan Ohlrich (145) and Fischer Carson (285) both took fourth.

Wrestlers who advanced to the district round will compete in the C-2 District hosted by Battle Creek on Saturday, February 13.
