Wakefield Post 81 Seniors Win At Battle Creek, Juniors Drop One-Run Decision

BATTLE CREEK – As legion teams have only a few games left on their schedule, the Wakefield Post 81 Juniors and Seniors closed out their final road game of the season.

From Battle Creek, the Post 81 Juniors suffered a 9-8 loss falling to 3-6 while the Seniors secured an 8-3 victory improving to 3-8.

In the 9-8 Juniors loss, Coy Johnson went 2-for-3 while Geo Salcedo went 1-for-3 with a RBI. Gabe Lamprecht suffered the loss.

 

From the 8-3 Seniors win, Battle Creek scored all three of their runs in the first inning before Wakefield rattled off eight straight. Justin Erb went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles, Lukas Oswald went 3-for-3 and Blake Brown added a 2-for-4 performance.

Jakoby Mahon picked up the complete game victory in seven innings allowing three runs off six hits while striking out seven batters.

Wakefield Post 81 will next host Pender on Friday, July 24 before welcoming in Wayne on Tuesday, July 28 at 5:30/8 p.m. Pregame coverage for the Wayne at Wakefield games will begin at 5:10 p.m. for the Juniors and Seniors to follow on Big Red Country ‘KTCH’ 104.9 and online at waynedailynews.com. Wakefield will also close out their season next Thursday, July 30 hosting Ponca in a rescheduled game.
