Wakefield Post 81 Seniors, Juniors Split At Crofton

WAKEFIELD – Both the Wakefield Post 81 Junior and Senior American Legion baseball teams returned to action gearing up for a pair of road outings this week.

Wakefield visited Crofton Monday evening as the Juniors suffered a 9-5 loss to fall to 3-5 while the Seniors held on for the 6-5 victory to improve to 2-8 on the season.

In the Juniors game, Blake Brown went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases while Nate Oswald went 2-for-3 with two doubles. Ryan Anderson added a 1-for-2 performance with two RBI, Sam Nuno went 1-for-3 and scored twice as Gabe Lamprecht went 1-for-2 with a double.

Oswald suffered the loss in six innings striking out seven batters.

From the Seniors game, Jakoby Mahon struck out the final Crofton batter who had the tying run and winning run in scoring position in the final inning.

Brown went 2-for-5 while Justin Erb went 1-for-2 with two RBI and a triple. Lukas Oswald went 3-for-4 with two RBI; Couy Johnson went 1-for-3 with two RBI and TJ Solomon added a 1-for-2 performance.

Brock Floyd picked up the win in four and a third innings allowing two runs (one earned) off three hits while striking out three batters and walking one. Lukas Oswald came in with runners on base and worked an inning and two-thirds striking out four batters as Mahon earned the save in the final inning allowing three runs off three hits while striking out and walking one batter each.

The Wakefield Post 81 Juniors and Seniors will next visit Battle Creek on Thursday, July 23.
