PONCA – Post 81 American Legion baseball kicked off a pair of road games with northeast Nebraska opponents Tuesday evening.
Wakefield visited Ponca as the Juniors secured a 5-3 victory improving to 3-2 while the Seniors fell 9-7 and are now 1-4.
Blake Brown paced the Wakefield Juniors with a single and run scored. Other runs came from Gabe Lambrecht and Cade Johnson.
Nate Oswald picked up the win in six innings allowing two earned runs off five hits while striking out four batters and walking another four. Jesse Lundahl came in for the final inning allowing a hit while striking out and walking a batter each.
Jakoby Mahon recorded a homerun and single posting a 2-for-4 performance for the Wakefield Seniors while also scoring twice. Justin Erb added two hits while other hits came from Couy Johnson, TJ Solomon and Brock Floyd.
Solomon suffered loss allowing nine runs off seven hits while striking out six batters. Floyd came in for relief allowing no runs in the final three innings.
The Wakefield Post 81 Jrs and Srs will next visit Pender at 5/7 p.m. on Thursday, July 9.
