Wakefield Drops Home Match With Crofton

WAKEFIELD – The Wakefield Trojan volleyball team began the month of October with a home outings against a fellow Class C2 opponent.

From the Main Gym in Wakefield, Crofton was in town.

After splitting the opening sets, Crofton won the final two picking up the four set victory over Wakefield ( 25-19, 19-25, 25-22, 25-20). The Warriors improved to 8-11 while Wakefield dropped their fifth straight now sitting at 4-18.

Hayden Ekberg paced Wakefield in the kill department with eight along with four blocks followed by Alex Arenas who added five kills. Aishah Valenzuela finished with a team-hihg 36 digs; Katie Borg had 21 digs and Rachel Borg finished with 15 digs. Jordan Metzler paced the team in set assist with 14 while finishing with 10 digs as Abby Heimann recorded 15 digs and seven set assists.

Two service aces each came from Heimann, Rachel Borg and Metzler while Olivia Donner had one ace.

The Wakefield volleyball team will next host Ponca on Tuesday, October 6.
