WAKEFIELD – A total of 10 varsity and junior varsity boys golf teams made up a northeast Nebraska invitational.
From Logan Valley Golf Course in Wakefield, 36 golfers competed in the 2022 Wakefield Invite on Friday.
Pender was crowned team champion with a 334, followed by Ponca in runner-up with a 340, Tri County Northeast placed third with a 342, Ponca JV finished fourth with a 432 and Wakefield rounded out the top five teams with a 487.
Grant Sprakel from Ponca was crowned individual champion while Trey Johnson of Pender finished second as both shot a 77. Nate Oswald of Tri County Northeast shot a 79 to finish third and Michell Kelly of Pender took fourth with a 79. Pender’s Layton Grahleer rounded out the top five individuals with an 81.
Note: Charley Egdorf of Ponca (Varsity Golfer) was disqualified for a circle 10 score on his scorecard.
