Wakefield-Allen Wrestlers Drop Home Dual With GACC

ALLEN – With a home invite on the schedule for this weekend, the Wakefield-Allen wrestling program hosted their second dual of the 2019-20 season on Tuesday.

From Allen Consolidated Schools, the Trojans entertained Guardian Angels Central Catholic.

Following double forfeits at 106 and 113 by both teams, Wakefield-Allen took an 18-6 lead before GACC scored the final 39 points to win 45-18.

The Trojans won 120 and 126 by forfeit while Wyatt Verzani (145) was the lone contested match win over Bo Oligmueller by fall in 28 seconds.

Contested match wins for Guardian Angels Central Catholic came from Joshua Jansen (138) over Gabe Reinert by fall (4:00), Ethan Baumert (152) over Cole Verzani by fall (2:34), Caden Ernesti (160) over Mitchell Fischer by fall (4:42), Cash Meier (195) over Rylan Weaver by fall (3:33) and George Fraher (285) over Austin Gregerson by decision (10-3).

GACC won 170, 182 and 220 by forfeit.

Both teams also double forfeit 132.

The Wakefield-Allen Trojans will next host the Wakefield Invite on Saturday, February 8 starting at 9:30 a.m.

 

An area result saw the West Point-Beemer girls defeat Platteview, 36-18.
