Wakefield-Allen Splits Road Triangular

WAKEFIELD – After hosting back-to-back triangular matches in September, the Wakefield-Allen volleyball team took part in a road triangular Thursday.

The Trojans joined Winnebago for the Homer triangular.

Wakefield-Allen dropped a three-set match to the host Homer (23-25, 25-13, 24-26) while winning in straight sets over Winnebago (25-16, 25-16). With the split, the Trojans are now 10-12 on the season.

From the loss with Homer, Courtney Bokemper (17 digs) paced Wakefield-Allen with nine kills while Devaney Brown recorded eight kills. Jackson Summer posted five kills as Haley Stapleton (12 digs) and Breanna Chase tallied four kills each. Chase added a team-high 19 set assists with Cassidy Thomas tacking on 11 assists and 22 digs for a double-double. Jamie Dolph was the team leader in the dig department with 25.

Stapleton, Bokemper, Dolph and Thomas all picked up a service ace. Jackson Summer, Thomas and Brown all added solo blocks.

In the match with Winnebago, Bokemper led the attack with four kills and nine digs followed by three kills and seven digs from Stapleton. Chase recorded a team-high eight assists as Thomas followed with three assists. Dolph added 12 digs for Wakefield-Allen.

The Trojans posted 10 service aces, led by the four from Bokemper. Jessica Borg and Brown both tallied two aces while Dolph and Thomas both had one.

During the final match, Homer swept Winnebago (25-19, 25-19) to improve to 10-17 while the Indians fell to 7-16.

Wakefield-Allen will next compete in the Lewis & Clark Conference Tournament this weekend in the Creighton Pool B division. The Trojans will face Winnebago, Osmond and Creighton on Saturday, October 20 starting at 2 p.m.

The regular season will end for Wakefield-Allen during the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge triangular with Wynot on Friday, October 26.
