Wakefield-Allen Invite To Feature Eight Varsity Teams Starting Thursday

WAKEFIELD – After competing in the NEN Classic last week, the Wakefield-Allen volleyball team will host their own invitational over a two-day period.

Pool play will begin on Thursday, September 12 during the 2019 Wakefield-Allen Invite before bracket play will take over on Saturday, September 14. Each match will be played to best two out of three to 25 points and win by two.

Pool A matches will be held in the main gym in Wakefield and feature Wakefield-Allen vs. Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons-Decatur starting at 5:30 p.m.; followed by BRLD vs. Hartington Cedar Catholic; HCC vs. Pierce and Wakefield-Allen vs. Pierce. The final pool play games will be held Saturday between Wakefield-Allen vs. HCC at 8:30 a.m. and Pierce vs. BRLD at 9:30 a.m.

For Pool B, their matches will be played in the auxiliary gym in Wakefield with Laurel-Concord-Coleridge taking on Lutheran High Northeast at 5:30 p.m. Thursday; followed by LHNE vs. Ponca; Ponca vs. Homer and Homer vs. LCC. Pool B will close out their games Saturday morning with LCC vs. Ponca at 8:30 a.m. and LHNE vs. Homer at 9:30 a.m.

Seeding of bracket competition will be based on record, head-to-head, points allowed and then a coin flip if needed. Admission is $4 for students and $5 for adults as no passes will be allowed.

Consolation bracket play will be held in the auxiliary gym with championship bracket competition in the main gym at 11 a.m.; noon; 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. for the final match. Plaques/trophies will be awarded to the champion while medals will be handed out for second and third place.
