Wakefield-Allen Finished Third During Home Invite  

ALLEN – After hosting a dual earlier in the week, the Wakefield-Allen wrestling team welcomed in eight teams during a home invitational.

Saturday’s Wakefield-Allen wrestling invite was held in Allen.

Winnebago took home the team title with 137 points over Omaha South who took second with 124.5 points, Wakefield-Allen placed third with 120 points, Quad County Northeast finished fourth with 106.5 points as Madison closed out the top five scoring with 63 points.

Other team scoring went to Ponca (sixth – 61.5), Cedar Bluffs (seventh – 59), Stanton (eighth – 56) and BRLD (ninth – 38).

Wakefield-Allen was led by Jeremiah Chase (138), Wyatt Verzani (145) and Mitchell Fischer (160) who finished first while Caleb Chase (120) and Gabe Reinert (132) both placed second. Kolton Fischer (126), Cole Verzani (152) and Rylan Weaver (195) all took fifth as Austin Gregerson (285) took sixth.

The Wakefield-Allen wrestling team will next compete in the C-3 District Meet on Friday, February 14 and Saturday, February 15 at Oakland-Craig high school.


Quad County Northeast leaders were Nolan Ohlrich (152) who won his division, Carter Olson (113) and Kolby Casey (195) placed second as Austin Stammer (160) and Colby Wathor (170) took third. Gabe Wortman (126), Sutton Ehlers (145), Ajay Gubbels (152), Israhel Vance (182) and Fischer Carson (220) all finished fourth as Devin Eisenhauer (152) took seventh.

Ponca was led by Sam Taylor (126) won his weight class, Aiden Cook (152) and Matt Logue (182) both placed second as Kemper Carlson (160) took fifth.
