WAYNE – Following a Tuesday night home split earlier in the week, the Wayne High basketball teams started off the weekend with a home game Friday night.
From the Wayne Jr/Sr High gym, WHS entertained Wahoo.
In the girls game, Wahoo led early 21-6 before winning the second quarter (17-9). At the half, Wahoo led 38-15. The Warriors then outscored the Blue Devils 21-6 in the third and 13-0 in the fourth. Final found Wahoo winning 72-21 to improve to 4-0 as Wayne fell to 1-2.
Frankie Klausen was the team leader for Wayne with eight points.

From the boys contest, Wayne used a 21-14 first quarter before Wahoo cut into the deficit of 19-18. Score at the half saw Wayne leading 39-33. The Warriors then mounted a comeback with a 21-11 third and 18-14 fourth to win 72-64. Wahoo picked up their first win of the season to now sit 1-2 as Wayne fell to 1-2.
Kallan Herman went off for 26 points on 8-14 shooting from beyond the arc (2-3 FT) followed by Trevor DeBoer with 12 points. Shea Sweetland tallied nine points, Josh Lutt picked up a team-high five rebounds as Tyrus Eischeid grabbed four boards.
Wahoo had a player go off for 39 points and 12 rebounds being Winston Cook on 15-19 from the field (2-4 3PT/3-6 FT).
