WAYNE – As the NSIC winter sports season comes to an end, the All-Sports Standings have been calculated as new this year, the conference will recognize an overall champion along with a men’s and women’s champion.
Following the winter sports schedule for the conference, Minnesota State-Mankato leads the overall standings with 120 points and the men’s standings with 55.5 points. Augustana is the leader on the women’s rankings with 70.33 points.
Augustana University is second in the overall poll with 112.33 points, followed in third by Minnesota Duluth (97), Sioux Falls sits fourth (91.5) and Northern State rounds out the top five teams (86.83).
Wayne State College sits 10th overall (62) while the women are 11th (37) and the men at 12th (25).
The NSIC All Sports Award is scored by awarding the winner of each conference-sponsored championship points totaling the number of teams in that sport plus one. The next place finisher receives points totaling the number of teams less the number of places from first place. Ties in the standings at any level shall result in the totaling of points and equal distribution.
Augustana has been crowned the NSIC All-Sports Award champion the past five out of nine years (2010-2012/2014-2017) while Minnesota State Mankato won the award the other four years. (2008-2010/2012-2014).
The All-Sports Champions will be announced following the spring season, with the awards being presented at the NSIC Summer Kickoff in Burnsville, Minnesota in July.
