Updated C1, D1, D2 Football Rankings

LINCOLN/OMAHA – Despite losing their lead late at Norfolk Catholic last week, the Wayne High football team remained in the week six rankings as did several other area teams.

According to a release from the Omaha World Herald and Lincoln Journal Star, Wayne High fell three spots to #9 in the OWH and four spots to #10 in the LJS. WHS recently fell at Norfolk Catholic, 31-21 as the Knights are now rated #5 in the OWH (up three) and jump into the Lincoln Journal Star ratings at #9 in Class C2.

The Blue Devils will return to Bob Cunningham Field on the Campus of Wayne State College this Friday, October 9 for their homecoming game where the team is 1-1. WHS will welcome in the 2-2 Boone Central Cardinals who were back in action last week falling to Battle Creek, 6-3 following two weeks off from competition. Wayne High is 4-2 overall on the year.

Last season, Wayne High topped the Cardinals, 42-24 in Wayne.

Another area football match up will also be carried on Big Red Country ‘KTCH’ 104.9 and waynedailynews.com being an eight-man ranked showdown. Wakefield will take their 5-0 record to the 5-1 Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears Friday night at 7 p.m.

The Trojans remained #5 in the Omaha World Herald and moved up a spot to #5 in the Lincoln Journal Star while LCC moved up two spots to #8 in the LJS.

C1: Pierce (5-0) is #1 in the OWH and #2 LJS. The Bluejays will next host West Point-Beemer Friday.

C2: Hartington Cedar Catholic (6-0) is #5 in the LJS and #6 in the OWH. Cedar Catholic will visit #1 Oakland-Craig (6-0) Friday.

C2: Norfolk Catholic (3-2) is #5 in the OWH and #9 in the LJS. The Knights will visit BRLD Friday.

D1: Stanton (4-1) is #7 in both the LJS and OWH. The Mustangs will visit Madison Friday.

D1: Lutheran High Northeast (5-1) is #9 in the Lincoln Journal Star. The Eagles will next visit Plainview Friday.
