Two Blue Devil Golfers Participate In Boone Invite Saturday

ALBION – Ahead of their second and final home invitational of the season, the Wayne High girls golf team took to the road over the weekend.

From the Albion Country Club, Wayne High competed in the Boone Invite on Saturday.

As a team, WHS only had two players available due to injury and illness battling the hot and windy conditions.

Riley Haschke shot a 105 to earn a 19th place while Lindsay Niemann shot a personal best 139 to finish 48th.

Columbus Scotus shot a team-low 365, followed by O’Neill in runner-up with a 393, Battle Creek took third (420), the host Boone Central placed fourth (426) and Pierce rounded out the top five teams with a 431.

Other team soring came from Fullerton (sixth – 439), Columbus Lakeview (seventh – 441), West Holt (eighth – 450), Clarkson/Leigh (ninth – 492), Stanton (10th – 510) and Shelby-Rising City (11th – 520) as Wayne and Boone Central JV also had golfers in competition.

The Wayne High girls golf team will next host the Richard Metteer Invitational on Thursday, September 23 at 9 a.m. Participating teams include Archbishop Bergan, Battle Creek, Boone Central, Cedar Catholic High School, Columbus Lakeview, Columbus Scotus, Elkhorn Valley, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, Norfolk, Norfolk Catholic, O’Neill, Pierce, Schuyler, South Sioux City and Winnebago.
