Truman State Outscores Wildcat Women, 23-13 In Third Quarter To Secure Classic Win

QUINCY, IL – The Subway Tip-Off Classic opened Friday evening where Wayne State College took on their first Great Lakes Valley Conference opponent of the weekend.

From the Pepsi Arena in Quincy, Illinois, WSC took on Truman State University.

Truman took an 11-10 lead after a quarter of play before WSC built a 27-25 first half lead. Truman then posted a 23-13 third quarter before winning the fourth, 19-18. Final found Truman handing Wayne State College their first loss of the season at 67-58. TSU improves to 4-0 as the ‘Cats are now 2-1.

Erin Norling paced Wayne State with a double-double recording 16 points and 10 rebounds as Halley Busse followed with 14 points. Maggie Lowe added a team-high four assists, Busse picked up two steals and Taylor Reiner tallied two blocks.

Wayne State College shot 19-58 (32.8%) from the field, 8-24 (33.3%) from behind the arc and 12-15 (80%) from the foul line.

Brooke Bailey posted 16 points to lead Truman State in scoring while Rachel Edmundson and Allison Thomas both picked up 14 points.

TSU shot 21-61 (34.4%) from the floor, 7-29 (24.1%) from the three point line and 13-27 (78.3%) from the charity stripe.

In the night game, Winona State University defeated the host, Quincy University, 65-57.

Wayne State College will next face the host, Quincy University at 3 p.m. Saturday.
