Trojans Suffer Four-Set Home Loss

WAKEFIELD – After splitting a road triangular earlier in the week, the Wakefield volleyball team was scheduled to host a triangular but it turned into just a single match Thursday evening.

From the Main Gym at Wakefield Community School, the Trojans took on Laurel-Concord-Coleridge for the second time this season. During the Wakefield Invite, LCC won in three sets over Wakefield. Wynot was scheduled to be the third team.

After dropping the first set, LCC won the final three to pick up the four set victory (25-27, 25-21, 25-16, 25-19). The Bears improved to 6-6 while the Trojans fell to 4-14 dropping 10 of their past 11 matches.

Alex Arenas recorded 15 kills and 11 digs followed by Hayden Ekberg with six kills and three blocks for Wakefield. Jordan Metzler had 18 set assists, 18 digs, a block and five kills; Abby Heimann finished with 13 set assists, 13 digs and two blocks. Service aces came from Katie Borg (37 digs) with three and two each from Rachel Borg (11 digs) and Arenas.

The Wakefield volleyball team is next scheduled to participate in the Hartington-Newcastle Triangular with Wausa on Tuesday, September 29.
