Trojan Volleyball Ends Season Monday

BANCROFT – A northeast Nebraska high school volleyball team began postseason competition Monday night as a number three seed.

From Bancroft-Rosalie Schools, Wakefield competed against Pender in the night-cap of the Class C2-4 Subdistrict Volleyball Tournament.

Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons Decatur opened the evening with a sweep victory over #4 Omaha Nation (25-5, 25-3, 25-4). #2 Pender then picked up a four-set win over #3 Wakefield (25-21, 25-15, 22-25, 25-18)

The Trojans end their season at 9-21 after winning four of their past five entering the week.

Double figure kills came from Rachel Borg with 12, followed by Alex Arenas with 11 and Hayden Ekberg added 10. Aishah Valenzuela led the team in digs with 26; Abby Heimann finished with 11 digs, 10 set assists and five kills; MaKenna Decker tallied five kills; Mikenzie Arenas finished with two kills as Jordan Metzler paced the team in set assists with 15.

Wakefield finished with six service aces as a team led by Rachel Rog with two. Katie Borg, Heimann, Metzler and Alex Arenas all had an ace. Heimann also came away with three blocks as did Ekberg (one solo) and Decker (two solo) while Alex Arenas had two solo blocks and Mikenzie Arenas had a solo block.

BRLD will next face Pender at 7 p.m. on Tuesday during the C2-4 Subdistrict championship match.
