Trio Of Northeast Nebraska Football Games Carried On KTCH/KCTY, Begins Thursday Night

WINSIDE – A pair of northeast Nebraska eight-man football teams will kick off the first of two area football broadcasts on Big Red Country ‘KTCH’ 104.9 and waynedailynews.com this week.

In Winside it’ll be a Class D2 showdown on Thursday, September 30 to close out the month as the Wildcats host the Randolph Cardinals.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Join Sports Director, Aaron Scheffler on Big Red Country ‘KTCH’ 104.9 and waynedailynews.com with pregame show coverage set for 6:40 p.m.

Winside is 3-2 on the season and recently snapped a two-game road losing streak by shutting out Emerson-Hubbard, 60-0 on September 24.

For Randolph, they’re 0-5 this year and will be looking to snap a nine-game losing streak that dates to September of 2020. The last Cardinal win came at Emerson-Hubbard on September 11, 2020.

Randolph is coming off a 42-0 home loss to Osmond on September 24.

Last year, Winside won 66-12 at Randolph.

 

The other Area High School Football Game of the Week on KTCH will be in Class D1 as Laurel-Concord-Coleridge visits Plainview to open the month on Friday, October 1.

LCC is 4-1 and have won back-to-back games including a 55-8 road win at Elkhorn Valley on September 17 and a 44-13 home win over Hartington-Newcastle last Friday.

For Plainview, the Pirates are 0-5 and recently came off a game which combined for 144 points in an 82-62 road loss to Wakefield. Plainview is looking to snap a 10-game losing streak where they last won their season-opener hosting Ainsworth of 58-32 on August 28, 2020.

In 2020, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge topped Plainview, 50-14 in Laurel.

Rounding out the week six schedule of NSAA high school football will be a battle of 11-man teams at Bob Cunningham Field on the campus of Wayne State College.

Class C2 Norfolk Catholic visits Class C1 Wayne High on Friday, October 1 at 7 p.m.

Wayne High has gone 2-1 against three straight ranked opponents and will enter Friday night with a 4-1 record. WHS recently edged Battle Creek, 21-14 in Wayne last Friday.

For the Knights, they’ll also bring in a 4-1 record and winners of four straight after opening the year with their only other Class C1 opponent in a 39-17 home loss to undefeated Boone Central (5-0 and recently defeated #1 Pierce). Norfolk Catholic is coming off a 38-0 road win at Ponca last Friday.

Last year, Norfolk Catholic came back and held off the Blue Devils, 31-21 in Norfolk.
