Tri-County League Weekend Scores, Pony Championship Game Slated For Monday

WAYNE – As one youth baseball division will come to a close this evening, below are listed results from all three weekend brackets for Tri-County League games.

The Wayne Ponies started off the weekend Saturday in semifinal action from West Point. #3 Wayne found themselves up 8-0 going into the fifth before allowing seven runs off of four errors. Wayne held on for the 8-7 win over #2 Arlington Maroon to advance to the Tri-Co Championship game Monday evening.

Brooks Kneifl recorded a pair of doubles for Wayne followed by Jacob Anderson with a double. James Dorcey and Toby Braun both singled.

Kneifl picked up the win in four innings allowing three hits while striking out nine batters and walking one. Tanner Walling worked an inning allowing seven runs (three earned) off of three hits while striking out one batter and walking two. Dylan Anderson came in for the save in the final two innings striking out one batter.

#3 Wayne will face #4 Oakland-Craig at 6:30 p.m. who won over #1 Pierce, 5-2. Pierce will battle Arlington Maroon also at 6:30 p.m. in West Point tonight.


Didget second round tourney action was underway Saturday as two Wayne teams played each other.

In the Wayne Blue and Black match, #8 Blues defeated the Black team 7-1.

Jace Jorgensen recorded a pair of doubles and two RBI as Jaxson Kneifl tripled and drove in a pair of runs for the Wayne Blues. Chase Baldwin, Carter Weise and Mason Karsky all drove in a run.

Jaxson Kneifl picked up the win in five innings striking out 12 batters.

The Wayne Black Didgets were led by Alex Rodriquez going two-for-two and drove in the lone run.


On the other half of the bracket, #2 Wayne White won against #15 Tekamah-Herman, 10-1 and will next face #7 Oakland-Craig Cubs at 6 p.m. from the Summer Sports Complex this evening.

The Wayne Blue Didgets will next face #1 North Bend Whitesox tonight at 6 p.m. The Whitesox defeated #17 North Bend Blacksox, 8-4.


Tri-County League Bronco action was in competition Sunday.

#1 Wayne White defeated #17 Lyons, 18-1.

Alex Frank, Zach McManigal, Gavin Anderson, Wyatt Heikes and Aiden Liston all recorded multiple hits. Calvin Ankeny also hit safely.

Heikes and McManigal both combined for the pitching win.

The Wayne White Broncos will next host #8 Wakefield Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. Wakefield defeated #9 Logan View Blue, 11-1.


From the #4 Wayne Blue Bronco contest, Wayne edged #20 North Bend Drillers, 8-7. North Bend did use a five-run second inning before the game was tied at 7-7 in the bottom of the fifth inning as Wayne scored the go-ahead run on a fielder’s choice.

The Blue Broncos accounted for 12 hits as Jase Dean led the way with a three-for-four night. Ryan Karsky, Joseph Woerdemann, Sam Junck and Kaden Keller all recorded multiple hits.

Colson Nelson started off on the pitcher’s mound allowing five runs off of four hits over two innings while striking out five batters.

The Wayne Blue Broncos will next host #12 Wisner on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Wisner won 9-8 over #5 Howells-Dodge.
