Tri County League Pony Tournament: Wayne Blue Wins In Extras, Wayne White Secures One Run Victory

WAYNE – After earning first round Tri County League Pony Tournament victories earlier this week, the Wayne Blue and Wayne White Pony youth baseball teams were back on their home diamond once again Thursday evening.

From the Summer Sports Complex, #3 Wayne Blue welcomed in #6 Pierce while #4 Wayne White hosted #5 Howells-Dodge.

The Wayne Blue Ponies (12-1) used an extra inning run in the bottom of the eighth to win 6-5 over Pierce. #3 Wayne Blue will next meet #2 West Point Patriots next Tuesday in Pierce.

Chase Sturm singled three times and drove in two runs; Brodey Munter singled three times and scored as Adrian Contreras doubled, drove in two runs and scored.

James Birkel singled twice and drove in a run; Chase Nelson singled twice and scored three runs; Jaxon Chase singled twice and scored as Brodrick Tiedtke singled twice.

Contreras (89) picked up the win in four innings allowing two earned runs off four hits while striking out six batters and walking four. Tiedtke (97) worked four innings allowing three runs (one earned) off three hits while striking out and walking four batters each.

The Wayne White Ponies (11-2) were able to score early and held onto a 7-6 win against Howells-Dodge. #4 Wayne White will next meet #1 Pender in Pierce next Tuesday.

Gavin Anderson singled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice; Parker Patefield doubled, drove in two runs and scored while Zander Liston doubled and drove in two runs.

Drew Reinhardt singled twice and scored twice; Mason Heikes singled, drove in a run and scored as Sam Etter singled and scored.

Anderson (70) picked up the victory in four innings allowing three runs (one earned) off four hits while striking out 10 batters and walking one. Blade Nelson (53) worked three innings allowing three runs (two earned) off three hits while striking out three batters and walking one.

Semifinal games for the Tri County League Pony Tournament will be played in Pierce on Tuesday, July 5. The consolation and championship Pony Tourney games will also be in Pierce on Thursday, July 7.
