Tri County League Pony Division: Wayne Teams Secure Home Victories

WAYNE – Both Tri County League Pony Division teams from Wayne also closed out the weekend with scheduled Sunday games.

From the Summer Sports Complex, Wayne White welcomed in Howells-Dodge while Wayne Blue hosted Tekamah-Herman.

The Wayne White Ponies (7-2) held onto an 8-6 victory over Howells-Dodge.

Austin Heiser singled twice, tripled, drove in three runs and scored while Gavin Anderson singled, tripled, drove in two runs and scored.

Mason Karsky singled, drove in a run and scored; Mason Heikes singled and drove in a run; Carter Wiese and Drew Reinhardt both singled and scored as single runs came from Zander Liston, Sam Etter and Parker Patefield scored.

Liston (59) picked the victory in three innings allowing five runs (one earned) off three hits while striking out three batters and walking two. Blade Nelson (63) worked four innings allowing an earned run off two hits while striking out eight batters and walking one.

The Wayne Blue Ponies (9-0) shutout Tekamah-Herman, 14-0.

Brodey Munter tripled, doubled and scored three times; James Birkel doubled twice, drove in a run and scored twice while Chase Sturm singled, doubled, drove in four runs and scored.

Adrian Contreras singled, drove in three runs and scored twice; Brodrick Tiedtke singled, drove in a run and scored; Herwin Bernal singled; Jaxson Kneifl scored three times as Chase Nelson scored twice.

Contreras (70) picked up the victory in four and two-thirds allowing two hits while striking out eight batters. Nelson (5) came in for the final out being a strikeout.

The Wayne White Ponies will close out their regular season at North Bend on Wednesday, June 22 and vs. Pierce on Sunday, June 26 while the Blue Ponies will visit Battle Creek and Wakefield on Wednesday and Sunday this week. All games will be at 7 p.m.
