Tri-County League Didget, Pony Brackets Released

WAYNE – Two of the three youth baseball league tournament brackets have been finalized with the third being released tonight.

All Wayne teams in the didget, bronco and pony divisions are among the top of their respective bracket.

Both the Wayne white and blue didgets will receive first round byes and will open their postseason run on Monday, July 8.

First round didget games will be held on Saturday, July 6.

The Wayne whites will await the winner of either #16 Wisner or #17 Logan View Gold while the blues will face either #12 North Bend Whitesoxs/#21 Homer Hawks.

The Wayne white didgets won all 11 games this year and were crowned tri-county league regular season champs, outscoring their opponents 109-17 including three shutouts. Wayne defeated the Homer Hawks (13-2) on June 9 and Logan View Gold (9-6) on June 13.

The Wayne blue didgets finished tri-county league regular season play with a 10-1 record a part of a four-way tie for second but fell to the fifth seed on tie breakers. West Point Twins, Schuyler Green and West Point Patriots took #2 – #4. The blues lone lost came to the West Point Twins (2-1) on June 6. Wayne defeated the Homer Hawks 7-1 on May 20 in their season opener and have not faced the North Bend Whitesoxs.

The Wakefield didgets (0-11) earned the #26 seed and will have to visit #7 (8-3) Howells/Dodge Saturday.

Third round didget play will be held on Wednesday, July 10; semi-finals in Logan View on Friday, July 12 along with the consolation and championship games in Logan View on Sunday, July 14.

Didget Bracket:

The Wayne ponies have earned the #3 seed and will open the first-round hosting Pierce White on Saturday, July 6. The winner will face the winner of #6 Wisner/#11 Schuyler. Wayne finished the year at 10-1, tied with the West Point Patriots for second but lost the tiebreaker. Wayne’s lone lost was to the #1 team, Pierce Blue (10-0) on June 6 of 19-0. The Wayne ponies defeated Pierce White on June 2 (36-4).

Pony Bracket:

The Wakefield ponies are the #5 seed at 8-3 and will host #12 (2-9) Tekamah-Herman Saturday.

Second round pony action is scheduled for Monday, July 8 with the semi-finals being played in Pender on Wednesday, July 10 as well as consolation and championship games on Friday, July 12 in Pender.


The bronco tri-co tourney will begin on Sunday, July 7 with their bracket being released by 6 p.m. Wednesday night on the website.

Unofficially, the Wayne blues are tied for third with Howells-Dodge (9-2) and the whites are in a three-way tie for fifth with Pender White and Columbus Lakeview (8-3). Oakland-Craig Sluggers White has secured the top seed at 11-0 with Pender Red placing second (10-1).

Wakefield is currently tied for 14th at 5-6 with the West Point Patriots as of Wednesday afternoon.
