WAYNE – After jumping into the top 25 rankings for the first time in a decade, another milestone will be set Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. being the first home top 25 match-up for Wayne State College football since 2009.
The 23rd ranked Wildcats are off to a 5-1 start and are among the top of the NSIC South Division at 2-0. WSC will put their four-game winning streak to the test when #22 Augustana comes to town. The Vikings are also 5-1 (1-1 NSIC South).
Saturday’s contest will also mark the first time since the 2009 season opener (#18/#20 UNK at #21/#22 WSC) that two nationally ranked teams have faced off at Cunningham Field.
Augustana holds a 12-9-1 edge in the all-time series against WSC and has won two straight meetings against the Wildcats that includes a 26-13 win in Sioux Falls in 2019. Wayne State College last defeated the Vikings 16-13 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on September 30, 2017.
