Dirt Devil 12s Suffer Home Losses Ahead Of Yankton Tournament

WAYNE – After competing in district action last weekend, the Dirt Devil 12s were on their home diamond ahead of another weekend tournament.

From the Summer Sports Complex, the Dirt Devil 12s hosted West Point Gray. The Dirt Devil 14s were scheduled to welcomed in Douglas County West, but had the game canceled earlier in the week.

 

During the 12U doubleheader, the Dirt Devils (13-14-1) suffered losses of 12-0 and 9-3 to West Point Gray.

In the opening loss, the Dirt Devil 12s didn’t record a hit as Kinnley McGuire (88 pitches) suffered the loss in three innings allowing 12 runs (eight earned) off 10 hits while striking out one batter and walking three.

During the second loss, Kamden Dobbins singled and scored while Olivia Brandow and McGuire also scored.

Two pitchers combined for the loss being Dobbins (82) in three innings allowing seven runs (two earned) off three hits while striking out six batters and walking five as Reagan Heithold (21) worked an inning allowing two runs (one earned) off one hit while walking three batters.

All five Dirt Devil softball teams will compete in the YGSA Father’s Day Tournament in Yankton, South Dakota beginning Friday night.
