State Wrestling Championships Just Days Away

OMAHA – The 2019 NSAA High School State Wrestling Championships are scheduled for Thursday, February 14 – Saturday, February 16.

Join Brady Bristol on Big Red Country ‘KTCH’ 104.9 and The City ‘KCTY’ 98.9/1590 for state wrestling reports from the CHI Health Center Arena in Omaha.

Class A/D teams will open their first round and quarterfinals starting at 9:30 a.m. Thursday followed by Class B/C first and quarters at 4 p.m. Class A/D consolation rounds will then start at 9:30 a.m. Friday followed by Class B/C teams at 12:30 p.m. All class semifinals and third round consolations will be wrestled starting at 5 p.m.

Championship Saturday will start with consolation semifinals as well as third and fifth place matches at 8:30 a.m. The finals will feature four mats beginning at 2 p.m.

For Wayne High, they had four state qualifiers as other immediate area towns were Wakefield/Allen (two), Winside (six) and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (one).

2019 State Wrestling first round match-ups

2018 champions include Lincoln East for Class A; Omaha Skutt Catholic for their seventh straight and 20th in last 21 years for Class B; Valentine back-to-back years in Class C and Burwell for back-to-back years in Class D.
