HASTINGS/YORK – The Dirt Devil 10s, 12s and 14s will all be in action this weekend during their respective state tournaments.
The 10s and 12s will play in Hastings while the 14 & Under Wayne team will participate in two pool play games before seeded into a bracket in York.
There’ll be 30 teams featured in the 10 & Under C Division. The Dirt Devils will open with Tractorhouse NT Zavala () at 1 p.m. Friday with the winner playing at 5:30 p.m. and the loser falling to the 8:30 p.m. elimination game against the winner or loser of Edge 9U Wagenfuhr who faces CC Stampede Gold Friday.
The Pender 10s will match up against the Pinnacle Bank Bullets White at 10 a.m. Friday.
The championship game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
A total of 36 teams will be represented in the 12 & Under C Division. The Dirt Devils will be in action Friday at 4 p.m. against Plattsmouth Blue Lightning. The winner will advance to an afternoon game Saturday at 12:30 p.m. against an opponent TBD Friday night while the loser will fall to a 7 p.m. Friday night match against the loser of either Adams Ice or Wet Point 12 U Storm.
The Wakefield 12 & Under softball team also qualified for state and will open with Nebraska Shockwave 12U at 1 p.m. Friday. Another northeast Nebraska team is the Pender Pendragons who will play Dmilaco Black at 1 p.m. Friday.
The championship game is scheduled for 5 p.m. Sunday.
The Dirt Devil 14 & Under softball team will compete in the Class B State Tournament held in York. Wayne will open in pool ‘A’ against the Blair Flames at 10:55 a.m. Friday and then face the Lightning 13s at 1:45 p.m. Bennington Elite is another team in the pool.
The eight pools will then be reseeded for tournament play over the weekend with the top two teams in each pool placed in the gold bracket and the third and fourth place teams to play in the silver bracket. Both brackets will be double elimination.
The Dirt Devil 16 & Under team will also be competing in their state tournament next week in Hastings.
