State Dual Wrestling Championship Brackets Released, Winside Earns #6 Seed

WINSIDE – With a change in format for the 2019 State Wrestling Dual Championships, teams will compete for the top spot in their respective class this weekend, a week prior to districts.

The NSAA released the qualifying teams for State Dual competition scheduled to be held at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds in Kearney on Saturday, February 2.

In Class D: Plainview will be the top team an 8-0 dual record earning 47.375 power points. Also, Winside earned the six-seed with an 8-0 mark recording 45.125 points.

Class A/D teams will open Saturday morning at 9 a.m. followed by Class B/C at 10:30 a.m. during the quarterfinals. All classes will compete in the consolation semifinals at noon, semifinals at 2 p.m., third and fifth place duals at 3:30 p.m. before state competition comes to an end with the championship duals at 5:30 p.m. The consolation bracket will be wrestled out for fifth and sixth places.

The main criteria qualifying teams had to compete in at least six duals. For Classes A/B/C the school must be able to fill a minimum of 10 weight classes and for Class D eight of the 14 weight classes must be filled at the championships.
