Sixth Inning Rally Catapults Wayne Ponies To Home Victory

WAYNE – Following a one-run defeat on the road for the Wayne Pony youth baseball team which was their first loss of the season, the team went back to work last night.

From the Summer Sports Complex in Wayne, the ponies welcomed in the West Point Twins.

The West Point Twins held a 2-0 lead going into the bottom of the sixth when Cade Wiese led off with a single to get a five-run rally started. Gavin Redden added a bases clearing double to score the first three runs of the inning as Wayne topped West Point 5-2 and now improve to 5-1 during summer play.

Ryan Karsky also went 2-for-2 to round out the hitting for Wayne. Catcher Kaleb Moormeier threw out five baserunners in the game.

Jase Dean picked up the win in the final two and a third innings striking out six batters. Kaden Keller started the opening four and two-thirds allowing two runs off four hits while striking out and walking two batters each.

The Wayne Pony youth baseball team will take back to the road visiting Dodge-Howells on Sunday, July 12 at 7 p.m. Wayne will also travel to Pierce on Wednesday, July 15 and visit Ponca on Thursday, July 16.
