Seventh Inning Run Pushes Pender Past Wayne Juniors

WAYNE – Following a Wednesday postponement due to field conditions from rain, the Wayne Post 43 Junior American Legion baseball team was in action Thursday evening.

Pender struck early with a 2-1 opening inning before adding another run in the top of the third. Post 43 tacked on a run in the fourth as both teams scored in the fifth before Wayne brought a run across the plate in the sixth to tie everything up 4-4. Pender scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh to win 5-4. Wayne fell to 2-2.

Brooks Kneifl produced a single, double and two RBI while Jacob Anderson singled twice. Max Miller and Toby Braun both singled as Jacob Kneifl accounted for a RBI.

Jacob Kneifl suffered the loss in six innings allowing four earned runs off seven hits while striking out 12 batters and walking three. Tyrus Eischeid worked the final inning allowing an unearned run off two hits while walking one batter.
