PLAINVIEW – As the Winside volleyball team begins a series of road triangulars in the month of September, the Wildcats are off to a good start following a pair of Tuesday night victories.
From Plainview High School, the Pirates welcomed in Winside and St. Mary’s of O’Neill.
Winside swept Plainview (25-20, 25-15) and St. Mary’s (26-24, 25-21) to improve to 4-2 on the season. The Wildcats recorded a combined 27 service aces.
In the sweep over the Pirates, Hope Cummins recorded six kills, three digs and two service aces while Brooklyn Behmer added four kills, five set assists, three aces and one dig for Winside. Jackie Escalante tallied two kills, three set assists and two digs; McKenna Russell had three set assists, three aces and two digs; Kati Topp finished with a dig, six service aces and a kill as Hannah Gubbels posted a team-high five digs.
From the sweep over St. Mary’s, Cummins posted eight kills and 10 digs while Topp had six kills, a solo block, two aces and two digs for Winside. Behmer recorded 14 set assists, five service aces and seven digs.
Winside will next join Elkhorn Valley during the Wausa Triangular on Thursday, September 3.
