WAYNE – Due to Tuesday’s predicted rain, the Northeast Nebraska Senior Golf League has been moved back a day along with other schedule changes.
According to a release from Darrell Miller, the group is scheduled to now golf at the Wayne Country Club on Wednesday, June 10 starting with a 9:30 a.m. tee time.
The Northeast Nebraska Senior Golf League is open to anyone who is 50 years of age, enjoys golf and looking to meet new friends.
The Senior Golf League is normally held each Tuesday morning through October 27 as visitors from any club are welcome. Golf courses the group will visit are located in Hartington, Pender, Ponca, Wakefield and Wayne.
The league has also made some adjustments to their fees and will not be gathering in the clubhouses before or after play. For league host club members, the price to golf is $5 while visiting league members or other visitors will be charged $15. Fees from all participants include $1 for prize money distributed to the top teams based on the number of entries.
Also, there will be no lunch following golf until further notice.
All golfers who attend must adhere to the social distancing and other federal, state and local club guidelines during the current COVID-19 pandemic. They include but are not limited to one person per cart, flag sticks left in the cups at all times and no use of ball washers or raking of sand traps. Officials with the Northeast Nebraska Senior Golf League do hope to provide coffee and pastries before play but not in the clubhouse.
Four person teams will be selected the day of play as golfers will compete for the lowest net-nine-hole team score adjusted according to their individual handicap. Other upcoming June dates include June 16 in Wakefield, June 23 in Pender and June 30 back in Wayne all at 9:30 a.m.
Everyone is being encouraged to attempt to bring the correct amount of fee money with you as they plan to streamline the registration/payment process. Rental carts will be sanitized for use.
