WAYNE – With the next sports season approaching, students in track and field are invited to participate in a pair of track and field camps held at Wayne State College.
According to Wildcat head coach Marlon Brink, a pole vault camp is scheduled for Sunday, February 16 while the Track & Field camp will be held on Saturday, February 22.
Each camp will last from 8 a.m. until noon and take place at the WSC Recreation Center.
The pole vault camp is made for those in seventh through 12th grade with cost being $30. After checking in, campers will split into groups for beginners/intermediate and advanced.
Joining coach Brink will be sprints/hurdles/jumps coach at WSC Travis Kamm along with high school pole vault coaches from Crofton (Johnnie Ostermeyer), Wayne (Terry Beair) and Norfolk Catholic (Terry Glenn).
Moving into the track and field camp on February 22, the camp will cover sprints, hurdles, long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, discus and mid-distance/distance. Those who attend will learn the proper technique and drill work, practice proper mechanics and get assistance in a workout environment. Instructors will be WSC track & field coaches with assistance from current WSC track & field athletes.
Cost for the late February camp is $50 if registered by February 19 otherwise $75 after February 19.
All campers will also receive a WSC camp t-shirt.
