Second Overtime Goal Allows St. Cloud State To Edge WSC

ST. CLOUD, MN – With two home contests and a road match in-between remaining on the Wayne State College women’s soccer schedule, WSC closed out a road weekend with a double-overtime loss.

From Husky Stadium in St. Cloud, Minnesota, the ‘Cats visited St. Cloud State University Sunday afternoon.

After the match was scoreless through regulation and the first overtime, the host Huskies netted a goal in the 105th minute (104:20) to win 1-0. SCSU improved to 4-8-2 (4-6-2 NSIC) while Wayne State College fell to 4-7-4 (4-5-3 NSIC).

Megan Phillips and Brooke Worrel both placed one of their two shots on goal while Jace Poelstra had one shot on goal and Chloe Schlines added a shot attempt.

Katherine Hageman allowed one goal while recording 15 saves in 104:20 in goal.

SCSU dominated the shot attempt category, 36-6 (16-3 on goal) while the ‘Cats had seven corner kicks compared to five from the Huskies.

The Wayne State College women’s soccer team will next host Winona State University on Friday, October 29 at 3 p.m. and visit Upper Iowa on Sunday, October 31 at noon.
