WAYNE – As the high school wrestling season begins this week, preseason rankings were posted in late November.
According to a release from Newrestle, Nebraska’s premier site for youth, high school, college and international wrestling news, the preseason top 10 teams in each class along with the top eight individuals from the 14 weights classes were announced.

The Wayne High Blue Devils will host a triangular with Wisner-Pilger and Clearwater-Orchard on Thursday, December 5 starting at 6 p.m.
The top three preseason Class A teams are Millard South, Columbus High and Lincoln East.
Northeast Nebraska individuals: Wyatt Godfrey (126 – seventh) of Norfolk, Peyton Martinez (138 – fourth) of South Sioux City; Josh Licking (152 – fifth) of Norfolk; Brayden Splater (160 – eighth) of Norfolk); Adan Curiel (170 – seventh) of South Sioux City; Laikon Ames (195 – sixth) of Norfolk and Jacob Ngeleka (285 – third) of South Sioux City.
Top three preseason Class B teams are Omaha Skutt, Hastings and Grand Island Northwest.
Northeast Nebraska individuals: Brock Bolling (106 – fifth) of Pierce; Ty Rainforth (120 – third) of O’Neill; Reece Jaqau (132 – fifth) of Wayne; Carter Jensen (132 – sixth) of Pierce; Brady Thompson (138 – fourth) of O’Neill; Ashton Schweitzer (160 – seventh) of Pierce; Brett Tinker (170 – fourth) of Pierce; Reid Korth (170 – sixth) of Wayne; Dylan Kuehler (220 – eighth) of Pierce and Mike Leatherdale (285 – sixth) of Wayne.
Top three preseason Class C teams are Valentine, David City and David City Aquinas.
Northeast Nebraska individuals: Owen Lade (138 – seventh) of Battle Creek; Wyatt Smydra (145 – third) of Norfolk Catholic; Gavin Lampan (145 – seventh) of Wisner-Pilger; Eric Hoesking (182 – fourth) of Hartington Cedar Catholic and Landon Beaver (220 – sixth) of Wisner-Pilger.
Top three preseason Class D teams are Plainview, Mullen and Thayer Central. Winside is ranked 10th preseason.
