Postseason High School Softball Begins Monday, Wayne Earns #3 Seed

MILFORD – Single elimination subdistrict softball tournaments for Classes B and C will open on Monday, October 3.

According to a release from the NSAA, Wayne High has earned the #3 seed in the Class C-5 District hosted by Milford and sit 12-6 on the season.

#1 Milford (17-6, host Blue River to end season Thursday) will face #4 Fairbury at (5-20, host Wilber-Clatonia to end season Thursday) on Monday, October 3 at 1 p.m. followed by #2 David City Aquinas Catholic (17-8, host Cuming County to end season Thursday) vs. #3 Wayne at 3 p.m.

Sports Director, Aaron Scheffler will cover the Wayne softball game Monday afternoon on The City ‘KCTY’ 98.9/1590 and waynedailynews.com. Pregame show coverage is set for 2:40 p.m.

The two winners will meet in the Subdistrict final Monday evening at 5 p.m. with the winner advancing to the District Tournament game to be played on either Friday, October 7 or Saturday, October 8 with the highest seed being the host during the best-of-three series.

The Blue Devils will visit Guardian Angels Central Catholic tonight at 5/6:30 p.m. for a JV/Varsity doubleheader in West Point. WHS also earned the #2 seed in the Mid State Conference tournament and will open with the host #3 O’Neill at 9 a.m. from Carney Park in O’Neill on Saturday, October 1. Earlier this season, WHS won a 3-2 home game over O’Neill on August 23.

The winner will advance to the finals at 12:30 p.m. while the loser will play again at 10:45 a.m. The consolation game take place at 12:30 p.m.

#4 Boone Central vs. #5 Pierce will take place on Field #1 at 9 a.m. with the winner to face #1 Guardian Angels Central Catholic at 10:45 a.m.

The 2022 NSAA State Softball Tournament is scheduled for Wednesday, October 12 – Friday, October 14.
