Post 81 Juniors, Seniors Secure Home Victories

WAKEFIELD – After dropping a pair of road games to open their season earlier this week, the Wakefield Post 81 Junior and Senior American Legion baseball teams welcomed in Wisner-Pilger/Dodge-Howells.

From Eaton Field in Wakefield Thursday, the Post 81 Juniors won 9-4 while the Wakefield Seniors won on a walk-off squeeze bunt. Both teams are now 1-1 on the season.

In the Juniors contest, Wisner-Pilger/Dodge-Howells led 2-1 through three innings before Wakefield posted a five-run fourth on three hits and two walks to win 9-4.

Blake Brown went 1-for-3 with a triple while Jakoby Mahon singled and doubled. Gabe Lamprecht also doubled as Jesse Lundahl and Cade Johnson both singled.

Lamprecht picked up the win in four innings, Mahon worked the next two and a third while Lundahl closed out the final two-thirds.

 

From the Seniors game, Wakefield Post 81 laid down a bunt in the bottom of the seventh to score the lone run of the game with one out and won 1-0.

Brock Floyd led off the inning with a walk as Lamprecht came in to pitch run and stole second. Lukas Oswald laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance the runner to third before Sam Nuno accounted for the RBI on a squeeze bunt with one out.

Mahon, Oswald and Nuno were the three hits for the Wakefield Seniors in the game.

TJ Solomon picked up the complete game victory allowing two hits while striking out 12 batters and walking five.

The Wakefield Post 81 Juniors and Senior will next visit Pierce on Tuesday, June 30 before host Crofton on Thursday, July 2. Game times are scheduled for 5/7 p.m.
