HARTINGTON – Class B and C Junior Area Tournaments begin competition this Friday, July 9 and go through Wednesday, July 14.
According to coach Julio Sanchez from Wakefield Post 81, the Wakefield Junior American Legion baseball team was tabbed the #4 seed with their 5-8 record.
Post 81 will open the Junior Area 1 Tourney with #3 Wisner-Pilger/Dodge-Howells at 1 p.m. on Friday. Other first round games include #2 Pender vs. #5 Ponca at 4 p.m. and #1 Hartington vs. #6 Crofton at 7 p.m.
The Wakefield/Wisner winner will face the Pender/Ponca winner at 7 p.m. on Saturday while the Hartington/Crofton winner will face the loser of Wakefield/Wisner at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The loser of Hartington/Crofton and Pender/Ponca will face each other also on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Pender will host the Class C Junior State Tournament from July 17 – 22.
The Wakefield Post 81 Seniors will be off until the Class C Senior Area 2 Tournament hosted by Scribner. Wakefield is 6-11 as their tournament will last from Friday, July 23 – Wednesday, July 28 along with North Bend-Morse Bluff, Pender, Tekamah-Herman and Wisner-Pilger/Dodge-Howells.
