Post 43 Uses Single Run Victory Advancing To RBL Tourney Semi’s

SCRIBNER – Following a change of where the Wayne Juniors played their second round game due to wet field conditions in Pender, Post 43 took part in the Ralph Bishop League Tournament.

From Scribner, #5 Hooper-Scribner was the host to #4 Wayne Post 43 leading into the night cap between #2 Pender vs. #10 Battle Creek.

Wayne scored two early runs in the first before Hooper/Scribner answered with two runs in the third. Post 43 then won in walk-off fashion as the designated home team by scoring a run in the bottom of the seventh to win 3-2. The Wayne Jrs are now 18-4 on the season.

Gunnar Jorgensen posted a pair of singles and scored twice while Brock Hopkins doubled for Wayne. The other hit came from Tyrus Eischeid being a single who also scored with Max Miller accounting for a RBI.

Wayne also had five defensive errors with three going towards Hooper/Scribner.

Brooks Kneifl picked up the complete game win in seven innings allowing two earned runs off seven hits while striking out four batters and walking three.

#10 Battle Creek then upset #2 Pender (8-5).

Games in West Point favored #1 Columbus Lakeview over #9 Wakefield Post 81 (12-4) while #6 Arlington knocked off #3 West Point (6-3).

Junior Legion semi-finals will be held on Saturday, July 6 featuring #1 Lakeview vs. #4 Wayne Post 43 at noon followed by #6 Arlington vs. #10 Battle Creek at 2:30 p.m. in Battle Creek. Wayne suffered a 5-4 road loss on May 22 to Lakeview.

 

Second round Senior Legion games will be played on Friday, July 5 with #6 Ponca playing #3 Arlington at 5:30 p.m. followed by #7 Pierce taking on #2 Wakefield/Wayne Post 81 at 8 p.m. both in Wakefield while games in Pender will feature #4 West Point vs. #5 Columbus Lakeview at 5:30 p.m. followed by #1 Pender vs. #8 Tekamah-Herman at 8 p.m.
