Post 43 Seniors Suffer Road Outing Loss, Wayne Juniors Continue Hot Streak

COLUMBUS – Before Wayne Post 43 Junior and Senior American Legion baseball teams were able to get a day off from competition, both were on the road Wednesday evening.

From Columbus, the Wayne Post 43 Seniors played their fifth game in the past five days while the Post 43 Juniors have played seven straight games in five days. Columbus Lakeview was the mid-week Ralph Bishop League opponent.

The Wayne Post 43 Seniors (3-8) suffered a 14-3 loss to Columbus Lakeview while the Post 43 Juniors (13-0) with a 12-3 victory over Columbus Lakeview.

In the Seniors outing, Toby Braun singled and drove in three runs scoring Wyatt Heikes, Calvin Starzl and Jacob Anderson.

Starzl (95 pitches) suffered the loss in three innings allowing 12 runs (seven earned) off eight hits while striking out and walking three batters each. Devin Anderson (14) worked an inning allowing two runs off two hits.

During the Juniors game, Kaleb Moormeier doubled twice, drove in four runs and scored while Kaden Keller singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored three times. Jase Dean singled twice and scored twice; Gavin Redden singled and scored; Aiden Liston accounted for a RBI and run scored; Devin Anderson scored twice as single runs came from Ryan Karsky and Wyatt Heikes both scored.

Moormeier (89 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in five innings allowing three runs (one earned) off six hits while striking out eight batters and walking two.

The Wayne Post 43 Juniors and Seniors will get a day off on Thursday before both visiting West Point on Friday, June 17 at 5:30/8 p.m. An update for the Post 43 Seniors, they will no longer be competing in the Pierce Tournament this weekend.

 

The Wakefield Post 81 Juniors picked up a 13-6 home victory over Tekamah-Herman on Wednesday. Next league game for Post 81 will be on Friday, June 17 at Oakland-Craig at 7 p.m.
