Post 43 Seniors Suffer First Loss Of Season During Opening Game Of Springfield Tournament

SPRINGFIELD – The Wayne Post 43 Senior American Legion baseball team began a district feel-like tournament this weekend where they are scheduled to play four games in three days.

From Buffalo Park in Springfield, Wayne competed with Waverly Friday evening and suffered their first loss in a 9-1 decision in five innings to fall to 12-1 on the season.

Josh Lutt singled as Jacob Kneifl scored the lone run for Wayne.

Trevor DeBoer suffered the loss in three innings allowing seven hits while striking out five batters and walking two. Reid Korth worked an inning allowing two hits while striking out two batters as Blake Bartos pitched a third of an inning walking three batters.

The Wayne Post 43 Seniors will next compete with Mt. Michael at 10:30 a.m. Saturday before facing the host Springfield at 10:30 a.m. Sunday followed by Ashland at 1 p.m.
