Post 43 Legion Baseball Splits At West Point; Wakefield Juniors Win Over Oakland-Craig

WEST POINT – Following a day off, the Wayne Post 43 Junior and Senior American Legion baseball teams went back to work on the road.

From West Point, Post 43 visited West Point on Friday in Ralph Bishop League play.

The Wayne Post 43 Seniors (3-9) suffered a 7-6 walk-off loss to West Point while the Post 43 Juniors held onto a 3-0 win over West Point to improve to 14-0.

During the Seniors game, Jacob Anderson singled three times, drove in two runs and scored; Gavin Redden doubled and drove in a run as Devin Anderson doubled and scored.

Aiden Liston singled twice, drove in a run and scored; Cooper Zara and Calvin Starzl both singled and scored; Toby Braun singled and drove in a run as James Dorcey scored.

Devin Anderson (77) suffered the loss in two and a third innings allowing four runs (three earned) off two hits while striking out four batters and walking six. Zara (91) started the opening four and a third allowing three runs (two earned) off one hit while striking out three batters and walking six.

In the Juniors outing, Jase Dean singled, doubled and scored while Kaleb Moormeier doubled. Devin Anderson singled and scored; Gavin Redden singled and drove in a run as Alex Rodriguez scored.

Redden (93 pitches) picked up the complete game shutout victory in seven innings allowing two hits while striking out 11 batters and walking one.

The Wayne Post 43 Juniors and Seniors are both off until Monday, June 20 hosting Hooper-Scribner at 5:30/8 p.m.

 

From the Wakefield Post 81 Juniors contest with Oakland-Craig, Wakefield won a back-and-forth game, 8-6.

Adrian Flores recorded two doubles, three RBI and a run scored; Nolan Magnuson posted a three-run homerun; Jacob Birkley singled as Jesse Lundahl scored.

Johnathon Birkley picked up the win in six and two-thirds striking out eight batters as Ryan Anderson earned the save in the final inning.
