Post 43 Juniors Advance In Area 5 Tourney, Play Albion Saturday Night

ALBION – After closing out the regular season on a winning note, the Wayne Post 43 Junior American Legion baseball team began postseason competition during the Class B Area 5 Tournament.

From Albion, Wayne began tourney action as the #5 seed against #4 Plainview. Post 43 scored 11 runs in the final two innings to win 13-2.

The Wayne Post 43 Juniors are now 10-7 and have won back-to-back games.

Post 43 opened the game with two runs in the first. Following back-to-back scoreless innings, Wayne poured in six runs during the fourth and outscored Plainview, 5-2 in the fifth and final inning to win 13-2.

James Dorcey singled, doubled, drove in three runs and scored; Wyatt Heikes singled twice, drove in two runs and scored three times as Jase Dean singled twice and drove in three runs. Aiden Liston singled twice, drove in a run and scored; Dominik Dominguez singled, drove in a run and scored; Zach McManigal singled and scored; Devin Anderson scored twice as Ryan Karsky, Cooper Zara, Jack Bruckner and Chase Leatherdale all scored.

Dorcey (50 pitches) secured the win in four and two-thirds allowing two earned runs off five hits while walking one batter. Heikes (nine pitches) came in for the final out being a strikeout and also allowed one hit.

The Wayne Post 43 Juniors will next face #1 Albion at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 10. Albion received a bye in the first round.
