WAYNE/NORTH BEND – With one more league game to be played this weekend, the Wayne Pony youth baseball teams returned to the diamond Wednesday evening.
From the Summer Sports Complex in Wayne, Wayne White hosted Oakland-Craig and fell behind early in a 15-5 loss while Wayne Blue visited North Bend and won 13-10.
In the Wayne White game, Oakland-Craig jumped ahead early with an 11-2 first inning lead. Oakland-Craig then scored single runs in the second and fourth while Wayne outscored O-C, 3-2 in the fifth. Final favored Oakland-Craig 15-5 as Wayne White fell to 6-4 in Tri County League play.
Gavin Redden singled, drove in a run and scored twice while Calvin Ankeny singled and scored twice. Zander Liston doubled and drove in a run, Carter Wiese and Austin Heiser both singled and drove in a run, Alex Rodriguez singled, Drew Reinhardt accounted for a RBI as Parker Patefield scored.
Liston (28 pitches) suffered the loss in a third of an inning allowing eight earned runs off six hits while walking one batter. Rodriguez (31 pitches) worked two-thirds of an inning allowing three earned runs off two hits while striking out two batters and walking four. Redden (34 pitches) pitched two innings allowing one hit while striking out five batters. Ankeny (32 pitches) closed out the final two innings allowing three runs (two earned) off five hits while striking out three batters.

During the Wayne Blue game, Wayne outscored North Bend, 4-3 in the opening inning while North Bend scored two runs in the second to lead 5-4. Wayne Blue regained the lead thanks to a seven-run third as North Bend remained close with three runs in the fourth. Both teams scored twice in the sixth as Wayne Blue held on for the 13-10 victory. Wayne Blue improved to 7-3 in Tri County League play.
Mason Heikes singled twice, drove in three runs and scored while Will Leseberg singled twice, drove in a run and scored twice. Jamison Meyer singled, drove in two runs and scored twice; Samuel Etter singled, drove in a run and scored; Kaden Keller, Brodrick Tiedtke and Alex Frank all accounted for a RBI and run scored; Gavin Anderson added a RBI; Jace Jorgensen scored twice as Brayden Navarro-Bell and Cole Clausen both scored.
Mason Heikes (65 pitches) secured the win in two innings allowing five runs (four earned) off four hits while striking out one batter and walking four. Jamison Meyer (48 pitches) worked two innings allowing three earned runs off one hit while striking out five batters and walking three. Gavin Anderson (52 pitches) closed out the final three innings allowing two runs off one hit while striking out six batters and walking two.

The Tri County League regular season will come to an end for Pony teams on Sunday, June 27. Wayne White will visit Arlington at 6 p.m. while Wayne Blue will host Pierce at 7 p.m.
