Ponca Wins In Four Over Cedar Catholic

 HARTINGTON – Following a four-set win and a week off from competition, the Hartington Cedar Catholic volleyball team was back on their homecourt Thursday evening.

With a couple more home matches next week and conference tourney games still remaining, Cedar Catholic welcomed in Ponca.

But it was Ponca putting a four-set victory together (25-22, 25-21, 17-25, 26-24) to improve to 18-4 while Cedar Catholic is now 12-10.

The Indians were led by Josie Reid with nine kills and 13 digs while Gracen Evans added eight kills and seven digs. Kaci Day finished with seven kills and 13 digs, Alyssa Crosgrove had seven kills and 12 digs as Morgan Nelson posted a double-double with 31 set assists and 17 digs.

Brynn Wortmann paced HCC at the net with 10 kills and five digs while Aiden Wortmann added a double-double with 16 set assists and 11 digs. Abby Hochstein finished with eight kills and 11 digs, Tori Arens had eight kills and six digs as Megan Heimes tallied a team-high 16 digs. Laney Kathol came away with five total blocks.

Ponca will next visit Vermillion, South Dakota while HCC will host Laurel-Concord-Coleridge; both on Tuesday, October 15.
