Ponca Splits Home Triangular

PONCA – Following a week off of volleyball competition, the Ponca Indians hosted a pair of Class D2 NSAA teams Tuesday.

From Ponca high school, Emerson-Hubbard and Wynot took on the Indians (Class C2).

In the opening match with Emerson-Hubbard, Ponca won 25-5 and 25-8 while Wynot got the better half of the Indians 26-24, 25-17. With the split, Ponca is now 15-3 on the season.

From the sweep over the Pirates, Kaci Day recorded a team-high nine kills to go along with four digs while Josie Reid added seven kills for Ponca. Gracen Evans posted a team-high five digs and tallied four service aces as Morgan Nelson finished with 20 set assists.

During the loss to Wynot, Reid picked up eight kills followed by Day with five kills and a team-high six digs. Nelson tacked on 17 set assists.

Ponca will next compete in the Pierce triangular with Dakota Valley, SD on Thursday.
