Ponca Secures First Win By Road Sweep

LAUREL – A pair of northeast Nebraska volleyball teams were in action Tuesday evening.

The Ponca Indians traveled to Laurel to face the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears.

Ponca avenged an early season loss and won in straight sets over LCC (25-23, 26-24, 25-20). The Indians are now 1-1 while the Bears started their season at 0-1.

Josie Reid and Kaci Day recorded nine kills each followed by Gracen Evans with six and five each from Bree Gill and Alyssa Crosgrove. Meg Keller recorded a team-high 13 digs followed by 10 from Day and nine by Reid. Morgan Nelson added 34 set assists as Reid also had four service aces and four blocks.

LCC will next visit Randolph on Thursday while Ponca will compete in the Emerson-Hubbard triangular with Homer Thursday.
