Ponca Holds Onto Early Sets With Out-Of-State Opponent

PONCA – With the South Dakota border right alongside Ponca, the Indians hosted a cross-state match Tuesday evening.

From the Ponca gym, Vermillion of South Dakota was in town.

The Indians swept Vermillion (25-20, 25-21, 25-6) to improve to 14-8 on the season. Ponca previously won only one of their past three matches entering Tuesday.

Ponca was led by Josie Reid with 11 kills and an ace while Kaci Day followed with six kills, nine digs and an ace. Morgan Nelson posted a team-high 22 set assists as Alyssa Crosgrove added a team-high 10 digs and three aces.

Ponca will next host a triangular with Walthill and Hartington-Newcastle on Thursday, October 11.
