Ponca Drops Wrestling Dual In South Dakota

Viborg, SD – Following a weekend invite, the Ponca wrestling team began the week with a road competition up a state.

The Indians visited Viborg-Hurley of South Dakota Tuesday night for dual competition.

Viborg-Hurley, SD defeated Ponca, 27-16 winning the final two matches (220, 285) by forfeit.

Match wins for Ponca saw Dalton Anderson (132) win by major decision (19-5) over Kaedon Maunu while Hunter Bennett (170) won by fall (2:22) over Gabe Berens. Ponca also won 195 by forfeit.

The lone V-H match win came from Wyatt Huber (126) over Same Taylor by decision (10-6). Viborg-Hurley also won matches by forfeit from 113, 138 and as mentioned before from 220, 285.

Double forfeits came at 106, 120, 145, 152, 160 and 182.

The Ponca wrestling team will next join Madison competing in the Wakefield-Allen triangular on Thursday, January 16 at 6 p.m.
