WAYNE – A pair of track and field camps will be offered by the Wayne State College track & field team during the month of February.
According to a release from the Wayne State Athletics office, a pole vault camp will be held on Sunday, February 14 followed by a track & field camp on Sunday, February 21. Both camps will take place inside the WSC Recreation Center from 8 a.m. until noon.
The pole vault camp on February 14 is for pole vaulters from grades 7 – 12. Instructors will feature several local coaches including: Terry Beair – Wayne HS; Terry Glenn – Norfolk Catholic HS and Johnnie Ostermeier – Crofton HS. Cost is $30 for the session with registration taking place online at: www.wsctrackcamps.com.
On Sunday, February 21, WSC will be hosting a track and field camp for athletes in grades 9 – 12 which will cover: sprints, hurdles, long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, discus and mid-distance/distance.
The camp is designed to teach an athlete the proper technique and drill work, practice proper mechanics and give assistance in a workout environment. Instructors will be WSC Track & Field coaches with assistance from current WSC Track & Field athletes. Cost is $50 if registered by Tuesday, February 16 and $75 after February 16. All campers receive a WSC Camp t-shirt and registration can be found online at: www.wsctrackcamps.com.
